A Royal Christmas

I don’t think it is too early to write this book review, however, I’m a little late with it. Today let’s leave reality of wars and politics behind and enter this interesting world of Montovia.

In A Royal Christmas by Melody Carson (Check out of my other reviews from this author), we meet Adelaide Smith, who is a small town girl that was raised by a single mother and has dreams of becoming a lawyer. She gets an unexpected letter from a country called Montovia, stating that the king needs to meet his long lost daughter before he dies. With skepticism and hesitation, Adelaide researches to see if this is true and if this is what it is cracked up to be.

She soon learns that the letter is true and heads to Montovia for the Christmas festivities. However, Adelaide is not welcomed by all and she must decide on how she is going to handle the situations to the best of her abilities. Secrets and more are revealed to Adelaide. Being a Princess may be harder than she expected. Relying on her faith and her father’s wise counsel is all she has in this unknown world.

I don’t want to spoil the story, as it is very heartwarming. Melody Carson doesn’t disappoint. I really enjoy her novels and how each character is special. I really would like to see more of Adelaide, because I wanted to see how she progresses in her new world.

I want to thank the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion. I was not compensated in any way. I enjoy sharing my reads with all of you.

I can’t really say enough about this book. I recommend it for an easy and short read this holiday season. Head to one of your local retailers and see if you can find a copy.

Until next time. Happy Reading!

Everything is Just Beginning by Erin Bartels.

I’m so sorry for the delay… So many things have been happening in my world. I’ve finally taken a week down to just sit and recuperate and get some rest.

Today’s book is Everything is Just Beginning by Erin Bartels. In this book we meet Michael Sullivan, a young man who is searching for his place in the world. His father is not in the picture and he has a lot of anger he has to deal with due to the situation. Also, he recently got kicked out of his rock band and he is trying to figure out where he belongs.

On New Year’s Eve of 1989, he goes to a party and meets a girl named Natalie Wheeler, who is the daughter of a very talented musical artist. Natalie is also extremely talented, but is blind. Michael and Natalie hit it off quickly and begin jamming together. Michael soon learns that Natalie’s mother is dying and doesn’t have long to live. Natalie somehow with her faith is able to see the good and tries to look past what is happening, although Natalie herself is dying inside over the fact her mother is dying.

This book shows a lot of emotion. We learn about forgiveness. There are mentions of faith, but the book doesn’t push it. Forgiveness is probably the biggest virtue mentioned in this book and is very important for all people that have been hurt in life. Michael learns a lot about forgiveness and grows from it with help from Natalie.

Due to many distractions, I’m not sure if I fully was able to enjoy this story. However, I do feel that this was a good book and I’ve enjoyed reading it when I took a moment to concentrate on it.

I want to thank the publisher, Revell publishing, and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary book for my honest opinion. I was not in any way compensated or forced to leave a good review. I enjoy books and that’s why I like to share them with you.

I hope to see you next time.

Happy Spring!

The Answer to Anxiety by Joyce Meyer

Hello, everyone… I know it has been a while, but I’ve been reading this great book from Joyce Meyer.

As always, I enjoy reading Joyce Meyer books, because they teach you how to handle certain things in your life without a bunch of mumble jumble. Her books are always down to earth and easy to read. This book didn’t disappoint me.

In this 10-chapter book, Joyce Meyer sits down and explains how to eliminate anxiety from a Godly stand point. Yes, some people may need medication to help boost the chemicals in your mind to help aid anxiety, but a lot of anxiety is caused by our own thoughts. Joyce explains if we release our worries and fears to God (as well as forgive), we can live more at peace.

This past month has been very difficult for me as a close older friend, who I consider my aunt, had a minor stroke. To her it has been a major stroke and every step in recovery is a major feat to conquer. She believes in God, but she has a hard time putting her trust in Him and understanding things happen for a purpose. This has been a learning experience for her and she just hasn’t dealt with it very well. She decides to let out her frustrations on me most of the time, which in turn causes me a lot of anxiety and pain. The devil works through her to steal my peace, but I’m trying to not let it happen any more.

Receiving this book at this point in my life is helping me to grow strong in my faith in God. I’m not going to let my aunt steal my joy or my peace any more. I pray in faith that God will answer prayers and reduce the anxiety and other stressors in my life. I’m here to say, by applying what I’ve learned in this book and believing that God is fully in control, I’ve been seeing amazing results by just letting go and letting God handle the rest. God is there and He does listen to our prayers. I know I got a lot to learn and apply, but I’m happy I know He is there.

I have to say I’ve really enjoyed this book . I have to say I received this book complimentary from FaithWords Publishing for my honest review. I was not obligated by any means to leave a positive or negative review. I do this blog to help others discover good books that can benefit them and for them to enjoy.

I hope maybe my post has helped you today. Feel free to comment below and help promote my blog by sharing this post, too.

Until next time, happy reading and have a blessed filled day!

Philippians- A Biblical Study by Joyce Meyer

Philippians- A Biblical Study by Joyce Meyer- is a wonderful Bible Study book. As with the other several Biblical Studies in the series, Joyce Meyer make it easy to understand this short book of the Bible.

We learn that Paul wrote this book and it is a letter written to the Philippians. Philippians is full of helpful advice from learning about salvation to about the joy and trusting of one another.

Joyce Meyer makes these commentary books easy to read and the chapters can be read over multiple days, approximately 2 weeks, if you want to take it chapter by chapter. There are nice thought provoking questions through out each chapter to help further your understanding of the topic and how to apply it to your life.

I can’t say enough about these Biblical commentary books. They are easy to read and understand. Lastly, I cannot forget to mention that I received this book complimentary from the publisher and was not obligated to post a positive review. In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer

Hello, everyone. I hope you have enjoyed your day off for MLK day. Today has been a snowy and cold day here in New England, and a great day to enjoy a book. Today we are going to look at the book In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer.

In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer is as always a thought provoking read. Although, I have barely dived into this book, we have learned a lot. This book is a deeper look into the Biblical Book of Proverbs. We learn how wisdom can be applied to all areas of life- relationships, morals, values, etc. We learn that sometimes we need to embrace not knowing and living in the unknown. God does have to reveal all this ways or situations to us. We need to learn from our experiences and our experiences create our character. We also learn that wisdom comes from many different people in different walks of life. Below is a synopsis video from Joyce Meyer:

I really have enjoyed this book and there is so much more to learned as I’m continuing to read this book. Joyce Meyer knows how to write a book that entices and keeps the reader interested. She doesn’t hold and sugar coat the truth.

Here are some places where you can get this book:

Have a wonderful wintry evening!

The Return by Nicolas Sparks

Hello, I know everyone is probably stressed due to the unknowns of the current election status. However, to take a break mentally from it all and I decided to share with you the newest book I’ve been reading- The Return by Nicolas Sparks.

Our story starts at current time to set the stage and then we flash back to 2014 where the story begins. We meet Trevor Benson, who is grieving the lost of his grandfather’s death. But what grieves Trevor the most is the whereabouts and circumstances surrounding his grandfather’s death. As Trevor comes to New Bern to sift through things and to clean up his grandfather’s home, he meet Natalie and Callie. Natalie is the deputy of the community and Callie is a young girl who is very mysterious who lives down the street. These two young women shed a lot of light on his life and his grandfather’s whereabouts prior to his death.

This book was written in first person, which is always a difficulty for me to get into at first. But once the story started flowing, I caught on. This is sort of a similar writing style to Don’t Let Go review I did a few weeks ago. Please note this book is more adult reading and the situations are slightly more adult, however, the theme of the book is great. I’ve really enjoyed it thus far.

I don’t want to forget to mention that this was a complimentary book from the publisher (Grand Central Publication) and I was not obligated to leave a positive or negative review.

Here are some locations where you can find the book.

Walmart: $17.16 Autograph edition

Amazon: $17.16 Hardcover; $13.99 Kindle

I cannot wait until I share my next book with you coming in a few days. Have a great afternoon!

The Newest Devotional by Joyce Meyer

Good afternoon everyone! I can’t believe we are heading into November. However, it is a great time to look at books and decide on what books are good to cozy up on the couch and hide away through our Covid-19 winter. This book does just that- Quiet Time with God Devotional by Joyce Meyer- allows the reader to feel a little closer to God and to hear His wisdom and positivity during these trying moments right now.

I loved this little devotional book. It is quite easy to read. Each day has a simple topic and a small Biblical principle or story you can relate to. What I liked about the book was that it had Joyce’s usual thought point, but it also gave the reader and opportunity to dig a little further in some scripture passages. 🙂

The book was full of encouragement and it gives a little spring to you step. The only thing that I can say about this book that is negative is that the print is slightly small so people that are older might have an issue reading the book, however, other than that it was a great devotional book. (Please note this book only has 365 days and not 366 days, in case of a leap year.)

Here are some locations where you may find the book:

Walmart: $12.01 + delivery fee

Christianbook: $12.99 Hardcover (backordered until 11/13/20)

Amazon: $14.99 Hardcover; $11.99 Kindle (Also, backordered until 11/15/20)

You can also find the book at joycemeyer.org

I want to thank Faithwords/Hachette Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. It was great and I really enjoyed this devotional. I recommend it for young and older adults that need a little encouragement right now.

Have a great afternoon and enjoy your November Day!

Seven Words of Christmas

Well… It’s not too early to be talking about this incredible book, I received recently from faithwords publishing for my honest opinion. Today’s review is about the Seven Words of Christmas by Robert Morris.

This book is incredible. It is an easy, short read. In the Seven Words of Christmas, we look at seven different words: Salvation, Favor, blessed, guidance, joy, redemption, and peace. Aren’t those all words we need to hear and read about right now and the authors writes such a fluid story. We start from the beginning of man and creation and how the birth of Christ is intertwined through events.

Although the book is written for the 21 days of the advent season, it can be read in sections due to each topic or all at once if you have the time. The author does an extremely great job writing the book in such a way to allow you to pick up where you left off easily. I just love this little book and I recommend it for anyone that wants to dig a little deeper in to the reason for the upcoming holiday season. We definitely need a little pick me up more than ever.

Here are some locations where you can find the little coffee table holiday book:

Christianbook.com: $11.99 hardcover

Amazon: Kindle $11.99; Hardcover $17.58

Walmart: $16.58 Hardcover

I have to say it again. I’m so happy I was able to have the chance to read this book from Faithwords publish for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to leave a review, but I wanted to share it with all of you.

Here is the sermon that the book is based on. Enjoy watching this sermon. It is about 40 minutes.

Enjoy this video sermon from the author.

Until next time… Have a great rest of your week!

An easy book of parables

Today we are going to quickly look at a Bible Study. This Bible Study is a little different because it is based on various topics and throughout the scriptures.

Fascinating Bible Studies on Every Parable by Dr. William H. Marty, is a great little book. To be honest, I haven’t read all of the book, but I find it great. I’m very happy with the book and the different topics it covers. There are 3 sections (Old Testament, Nature of the Kingdom, and Ethics of the Kingdom), 10 topics and within those topics there are about 39 or 40 subtopics.

The entries are somewhat short and can be read within about 10-15 minutes. The reading material is very easy to comprehend, although the print can be a little small. After you finish the reading section, there are a couple of sections of reflection. This is where you dig slightly deeper into what the reading selection was and how to apply it to your life. I also noticed that sometimes there is an optional section as well for more reflection, if you have time. After every passage there is a memory verse.

I found this book to be great for personal use and group bible studies. However, I think it might more effective in a group as you can discuss the questions a little more. This was an easy read and I thank the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. I was not obligated to post a positive review.

Here are locations where you might find this book:

Christianbook: $10.99 Paperback; $9.69 ebook

Amazon: $14.99 Paperback; $9.99 Kindle

Until next time, Happy Reading!”

Don’t Let Go by Harlan Coben

Today, we are going to look at Don’t Let Go by Harlan. I’ve been reading this book my special Auntie has let me borrow for a few weeks. It has been very exciting and once I have gotten into it I can’t put it down.

First, we meet this young woman, Daisy, who we shortly learn her real name is Maura Wells. She is working under cover for divorcees and getting their husbands in legal trouble. However, when the plan gets bloody, Detective Nap Dumas starts investigating and finds that this murder might be a link to the past.

Detective Nap Dumas is struggling with the past. His twin brother and his girl friend died a tragic death nearly 15 years ago, and now an old classmate has been murdered with no suspects and the only fingerprints found are Maura Wells, an ex-flame, but she’s been missing since the night of Nap’s twin’s death.

As Nap digs into the investigation, he stumbles upon a lot of information and secrets he didn’t know existed. Soon other classmates start being murdered, and the plot thickens. Did he really know his brother at all? Will Nap find out who the murderer really is? Everyone keeps telling him to let things go or things will go bad. Will Nap just let it all go? Well… You will have to grab a copy for yourself to find out.

Amazon: $10.89 Hardcover; Kindle $9.99

Walmart: $14.25 Paperback

I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read.I would recommend this for any adult that is interested in a mystery thriller. There are adult situations in the book, so it is crucial for me to say this is an adult book. The only thing about this book that was hard getting use to was that it was written in first person and from the main characters view. I haven’t read many books in third person.

Until next time, have a great evening and stay well.
