Malicious Intent by Lynn H. Blackburn

Malicious Intent by Lynn H. Blackburn will keep you wanting to solve the mystery until the last page. You will keep rooting for the protagonists to figure out who done it and why. You will also have your own list of suspects as well. However, let’s dig in to our caper.

Dr. Ivy Collins’ day couldn’t get any worse. Tortured in her own house and now an old high school flame is the secret agent trying to rescue her. How could this be and what do these people want? All she knows is that her top secret prosthetic and her genius must be the reason these people are going after her, but seeing Gil Dixon has just sent her world upside down.

Agent Gil Dixon hadn’t expected to run into his old high school flame, the girl who got away in a mysterious, unexplained way. However, Gil must focus on his mission of keeping Ivy safe and to work on who is going after her. If he wins her heart over again in the process, there will be two wins.

Will things get complicated for Gil between Ivy and him or will he be able to deal with being discreet and focus on the task at hand? You will have to figure it out for yourself; I’m not telling.

This book is exciting from beginning to end. You don’t know who has done the crime, but you do have a running list of suspects. You also are rooting for Ivy and Gil and sometimes the relationship doesn’t continue as you think. I want to thank the publisher and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary book for my honest opinion. I want not obligated to post a review, positive or negative. I just enjoy sharing what I read with you.

I hope you enjoyed reading this today and I hope to see you again very soon.

Have a wonderful day!

The Prince and the Prodigal by Jill Eileen Smith

Happy 2022! Well… We are three months in but never too late to say it. 🙂 Today we are going to be reviewing our first book of 2022, The Prince and the Prodigal by Jill Eileen Smith. This is a Biblical historic fiction novel, set in the late 1800s BC of Canaan and Egypt at Jacob’s camp.

This is a retelling of the story of Joseph and also about his brother Judah. As we know, Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers and had many challenges to face in the days that followed him, but he was soon richly blessed as one of the most powerful men in the world because of God. Judah was the brother who had the idea to sell Joseph and paid dearly for his choices along the way in life. He lost two sons and impregnated his daughter-in-law by prostitution. Judah’s choice of selling Joseph gave him great guilt and he suffered from it. Both learned to rely on and listen to God for the answers.

What I liked about this book is that we got to know and fill in the blanks on the lives of these two brothers and how their situations evolved. The writing was great and as I got further into the novel, I wanted to read more. However, the beginning few chapters were slow and dragged out. As the reader, I was not enthused to keep reading at first, but once I got through the first few chapters it gained momentum and my interest.

I recommend this book to adults, because their are some adult situations mentioned through out the book with not a lot of detail but enough that would not be entirely suitable for a young teenager, especially the when the author wrote about Tamar and Er’s sexual relationship. Otherwise, I give this book 4 stars and loved reading a book about two strong, Biblical, male characters. I look forward in reading more from this author.

Lastly, I want to thank the publisher and author for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I received this complimentary book and was not compensated for leaving a review. I just love sharing my books with you and reading too. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my review today and look forward to more in the coming months of 2022. See you again very soon!

~Happy Reading~

Good evening everyone. I hope you are ready for this thriller suspense, Hostile Intent, from Lynette Eason. This has been a powerful suspenseful novel and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

When we begin, we start the story from the perspective of the lenses of soon to be murder victims of the latest killing spree. However, when one child gets away from the murder scene, the killer continues to prowl the streets for him and threatens the rest of his family he has left. Soon FBI agent Caden Denning is on the case and finds a strange mysterious connection to his long time friend Ava Jackson.

Caden hunts Ava down, after her evening with her alcoholic mother at the nursing facility. Caden convinces Ava to be alert and ready in case the killer shows up to attack and soon enough the mysterious killer stalks Ava’s residence.

The story unfolds from there. We find that Ava’s father actually worked for the CIA, but has died in a freaky accident months before. Liz Johnson’s Beyond the Tides

I hope you are enjoying a late summer evening tonight and that you have been remembering the innocent lives that were sacrificed 20 years ago in the 9/11 attacks. Tonight we will be looking at our latest read from Liz Johnson, Beyond the Tides, a Prince Edward Island Shores book.

We meet Meg Whitaker and Oliver Ross, both high school enemies since he broke her award winning science project that would’ve been her ticket to a big time career and college application. Meg has never gotten over what Oliver did to her, but now her father has decided that Oliver should take ownership of the family lobster and fishing business. Meg is determined not to let Oliver take ownership of the Whitaker business and she’ll sacrifice her current job for it.

However, Meg’s life is complicated with her mother’s mysterious illness and that is taking away the woman she has known and loved. This makes Meg even more determined to keep the family business. Nevertheless, Oliver has hidden issues of his own and has a lot to learn, especially in winning over Meg’s approval. I can’t say much more because I don’t want to spoil it, but you can guess the rest or grab a copy yourself.

What I liked about this book is funny and is light hearted. The characters learn a lot with God’s leading. I have enjoyed reading this book. I want to thank the publisher, REVELL Group, for giving me the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. I was not compensated or obligated to give a positive review.

Joyce Meyer’s newest book

I hope that you have had a good summer and are prepared for the autumn season coming up. Today we are going to look at a good Christian living book.

Joyce Meyer’s Authentically, Uniquely You is a great book that help you embrace who you are and what you are. Joyce recommends a great plan in order to accept yourself.

First Joyce recommends learning to love yourself. If you don’t love who you are than you will feel miserable. Remember you shouldn’t love yourself so much to become self-centered, but love your talents and who you are with God’s help and guidance

Secondly, Joyce recommends we shouldn’t compare our selves to others and how we shouldn’t try to control people into what we want. As well, we shouldn’t let people control us. We need to break free from the chains and the fear of those people and things that control us.

Lastly, we need to learn to embrace the Holy Sprit’s anointing upon us, and let HIM guide our lives. We need to let ourselves enjoy life and our walk with God and in the end we will love and accept who we are in Christ and who we are personally.

This book was another great read from Joyce Meyer. Her books never disappoint and you feel you learn something to apply to your life. I like to thank the publisher, FaithWords, for giving me the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. I was not compensated for this review.

In our next review, we will be looking at a contemporary romance. I cannot wait to share with you.

The Return by Nicolas Sparks

Hello, I know everyone is probably stressed due to the unknowns of the current election status. However, to take a break mentally from it all and I decided to share with you the newest book I’ve been reading- The Return by Nicolas Sparks.

Our story starts at current time to set the stage and then we flash back to 2014 where the story begins. We meet Trevor Benson, who is grieving the lost of his grandfather’s death. But what grieves Trevor the most is the whereabouts and circumstances surrounding his grandfather’s death. As Trevor comes to New Bern to sift through things and to clean up his grandfather’s home, he meet Natalie and Callie. Natalie is the deputy of the community and Callie is a young girl who is very mysterious who lives down the street. These two young women shed a lot of light on his life and his grandfather’s whereabouts prior to his death.

This book was written in first person, which is always a difficulty for me to get into at first. But once the story started flowing, I caught on. This is sort of a similar writing style to Don’t Let Go review I did a few weeks ago. Please note this book is more adult reading and the situations are slightly more adult, however, the theme of the book is great. I’ve really enjoyed it thus far.

I don’t want to forget to mention that this was a complimentary book from the publisher (Grand Central Publication) and I was not obligated to leave a positive or negative review.

Here are some locations where you can find the book.

Walmart: $17.16 Autograph edition

When we first dive in to the first chapters of the book, we meet Alice Anne von Wettin, the great granddaughter of Queen Victoria. She is a Pickerington Agent in Austin and her partner is Isaiah Joplin, a lawyer with a good investigator sense. Together they are trying to solve the crime of the mysterious midnight murders in Austin, Texas. Isaiah and Alice Anne interview many people and find the organization The BLACK MIDNIGHT. This organization is also on the hunt for this murderer.

During this time, Isaiah and Alice Anne grow close as friends and a budding relationship begins. However, Alice Anne doesn’t have the nerve to tell Isaiah that she is a queen’s great grand daughter, as it might change how he feels about her. Nevertheless, when Alice Anne gets the courage to tell Isaiah, she is ordered out of the investigation and ordered home to England.

Six years later, Jack the Ripper is on a rampage across London and the victims have similar wounds to the assassin in Austin, Texas years earlier. The Queen relies on her great granddaughter to find this murder and put an end to the suspicions that the royal family is involved. The Queen orders Isaiah Joplin to come to England to assist in the investigation. However, will Isaiah and Alice Anne’s meeting spur old feelings or will they brush them aside once again? Will they capture Jack the Ripper once and for all?? You will have to find out for yourself, but I think you can guess. 🙂

Joyce Meyer’s Colossians Study

Hello, folks. How’s quarantine? I’m still technically locked down and the governors are making new rules as we are beginning our reopening. Some of them are stupid, but I get some of them. I just don’t know why they are so bossy. Today we are going to look at the second newest study from Joyce Meyer on the book of Colossians.

I really enjoyed this study. Paul’s lessons are so valuable even today. Maybe they are more valuable as we go through the process of a pandemic and how to stand up for ourselves. This book spoke about living maturely in Christ. It helped me see so many different things that I am. It also showed me areas where I need to work on to make myself better. I learned how to be better at encouraging others and how to show love to others. I also learned to become a better listener towards others.

I love our how Joyce Meyer writes these commentary books. They are easy to read and comprehend without much issues. I’m so happy I’ve had the opportunity to read this book during lock down. I want to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries and Hachette Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.

If you would like to grab a copy for yourself, please check out the following retailers. Please be aware as there are still shipping delays as we are reopening our country.
