Light hearted devotional lessons

Hello, everyone. I hope you all have had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and I’m sure everyone is getting ready for a big holiday season. 🙂 Today we are looking at the book 3-minute Devotions to laugh and Reflect: Lighten Your Load and Brighten Your Day.

This book is divided into 90 different devotional stories to reflect with a funny little comic beside each of the devotionals. These devotionals have a great food for thought tidbit that doesn’t take you long to read. They will take about 5 minutes of your time to reflect about the lesson being told. The lessons can be from about keeping your attitude in check, tithing, or fighting temptations.

What I liked about this book, is that you could read more than one devotional if you wanted and the comics would make me laugh out loud, because they contained a lot of truth. The readings were very easy to read and you got a great moral lesson out of them. I would recommend this book to young and older adults.

I want thank the publisher, Bethany House, for giving me the opportunity to review this book. I was not obligated to post a positive (or negative) review and was not compensated in any way. I hope you enjoyed this book and I hope that you can grab a copy of your own at your local bookstore.

Until next time, Happy December!

The Newest Devotional by Joyce Meyer

Good afternoon everyone! I can’t believe we are heading into November. However, it is a great time to look at books and decide on what books are good to cozy up on the couch and hide away through our Covid-19 winter. This book does just that- Quiet Time with God Devotional by Joyce Meyer- allows the reader to feel a little closer to God and to hear His wisdom and positivity during these trying moments right now.

I loved this little devotional book. It is quite easy to read. Each day has a simple topic and a small Biblical principle or story you can relate to. What I liked about the book was that it had Joyce’s usual thought point, but it also gave the reader and opportunity to dig a little further in some scripture passages. 🙂

The book was full of encouragement and it gives a little spring to you step. The only thing that I can say about this book that is negative is that the print is slightly small so people that are older might have an issue reading the book, however, other than that it was a great devotional book. (Please note this book only has 365 days and not 366 days, in case of a leap year.)

Here are some locations where you may find the book:

Walmart: $12.01 + delivery fee

Christianbook: $12.99 Hardcover (backordered until 11/13/20)

Amazon: $14.99 Hardcover; $11.99 Kindle (Also, backordered until 11/15/20)

You can also find the book at joycemeyer.org

I want to thank Faithwords/Hachette Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. It was great and I really enjoyed this devotional. I recommend it for young and older adults that need a little encouragement right now.

Have a great afternoon and enjoy your November Day!

Godly Habits to live by

In Joyce Meyer’s newest inspirational book, Habits of a Godly Woman, gives the reader a lot to apply for their life. This book is 25 chapters and who can easily sit and read one or two a day with about 20 minutes.

What I love about Joyce Meyer’s book and the others I have read, she always gives a way to relate to the reader. She understands how real life can effect your mind and soul spiritually and emotionally. I love that she helps you build a relationship with God through scripture. The Habits she covers are far to many to list all of them, but she does focus on how to be a good role model, the habit of having faith and applying prayer, and learning to feel God’s presence and having forgiveness.

Habits of a Godly Woman is an easy read and I recommend it for anyone that needs a morning pick me up and a good application to start the day. I want to also mention that I recieved this book complimentary from the publisher. I was not obligated to leave a review, positive or negative.

So grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and go check out this great little book. Here are some locations you might find this book.

Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you next time for our next book!

A new book from Joel Osteen

Hello, folks! Today we are quickly looking at the newest book from Joel Osteen- The Abundance Mind-set: Success Starts Here. This is an easy read and it was short too. Only five chapters, but packed with a lot of information to help you have a positive outlook on life.

In these five chapters we look at what having an abundance mind-set is, how to upgrade your expectations, how to motivate yourself to reach new levels and how to be someone’s miracle. There is so much information and positivism.

This book really helped me feel more positive and confident in myself. It echoed a lot of what a dear friend had been telling me about trying to be who I am and to stop hiding my talents and skills. I’ ve been trying to apply this book, although it is hard to do during this time of quarantine.

I’m so happy I had an opportunity to read this quick little book. I want to also thank you the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book. I was not obligated to share or post a review, but I enjoy sharing books with all of you.

Here’s a few places you can find this book:

Amazon: $8.98 Hardcover; $9.99 Kindle

Christianbook: $7.99 Hardcover; $9.99 eBook

Have a great rest of July and I’ll see you in a few days with another book!

Are you ready for some laughs?

Hi, I’ve been reading this awesome book called Rhinestones on my Flip-Flops by Jane Jenkins Herlong. This is a very interesting book about several different types of women in the Bible to learn good virtues and how to be humble with a little humor put in the mix.

These are a few WOW (women of wisdom) characters we look at in the book.We look at Esther and her courage to know in her heart what was the right thing to do, even though her life was at stake. Then we look at Mary and Martha and how each woman had different feelings for the priorities.  We look at Sarah, Abraham’s wife and how she took matters in her hands, because felt tired and dried up.  And let’s  not forget Naomi and Ruth… both had many situations to over come, but kept their faith and God richly blessed them. There are more women mentioned in this book, but you get the point. Women role models that are good examples to learn by.

I have liked this book, but it hasn’t been my all time favorite. The humor was fairly good and well thought about. It always seemed to put a smile on my face. However, the book was just a so-so read for me. Sometimes I felt the topics and chapters wandered. However, that is just a matter of opinion. Lastly, I have to mention this was a complimentary copy of the book from Faith Words/Hachette Publishing company.

If you’d like to find a  copy, here are a few places.

Walmart: $10.19 paperback

Amazon: $10.19 paperback

Barnes and Noble: $10.33 paperback (sample digital available)

I’ll see you again next week with my newest legal thriller read.

A Holiday/Advent Devotional Coloring book

A Holiday/Advent Devotional Coloring book

978-1-4964-1802-9Since we are going into the Holiday/ Advent Season, this devotional and adult coloring book, All Is Bright, written by Nancy Guthrie and illustrated by Lizzie Preston, is the one to go to.

The readings are once a day during the entire month of December, and there are some awesome pictures to color. They have a lot of detail to them. I can imagine what they’d look like once you get your gel pens and fine tipped markers out and begin coloring. What’s even nicer is that there is a family discussion section just for the kids. This helps them understand the true meaning for the season and since it is a coloring book they didn’t leave out the easy coloring pages section that nicely pulls out the book. There are even some cut out crafts to hang around the house. 🙂

This is a great book and an easy read. It makes you have to sit and think about what the season is really about and how it all started.

I got this through Tyndale Publishing for an honest review. I really liked this book. I read about half of it in a sitting. Plus, since I was willing to review this book I got a packet of stickers, too!  I’ll add both links below. I don’t know if I really like the stickers so much. They are okay, but you are the one who is suppose to color them in. Might be fun for a little kid, but not for me. I’ll be giving these away to some of my aunts who are in nursing homes. They are into the adult coloring trend. I’m okay with it to a point, but sometimes I it gets a little more tedious than I like it to be.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this book and that it gets you in to the holiday spirit978-1-4964-2205-7. This would be a great book for an early Christmas gift or a coffee table book. 🙂

Stay Tuned for next week; we’ll be looking a wonderful novel about the trials on the Oregon Trail.

Gratitude- A prayer and praise coloring journal

What an uplifting set of praises and prayer this little book has!

I wa415796s surprised how positive my mindset became after receiving this book. I walked away reading this this 102 page book feeling relaxed and uplifted as well. Plus, the pictures are detailed enough that you feel relaxed just reading the scriptures. The coloring idea is new and I did like it, although I’m not a person that would be sitting reading my devotionals with my crayons in my desk or back pocket.  The drawings are pretty enough to frame once you finish coloring them in.

My opinion:

Although I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t like my all time favorite devotional to want to go back to again and again.Sometimes the drawing part did not appeal to me. I’m giving this book to my mom for her birthday, because I feel she may enjoy reading the prayers and praises and share them with other people in cards or notes. However, if someone wants to purchase a book that appeals to the coloring book types, this book is for them. Below are a few places you can purchase the book. As always, if you have a chose purchase the books locally in your area to stimulate your local economy.

CBD: $11.99

Amazon: $14.99

Barnes and Noble: $14.99

Walmart: $10.60

As always I need to mention that I got this free through Tyndale Publishers and I want to thank them for the opportunity to read and share this book.

Happy reading!! And next week I’ll be telling you about the 6 week Bible study I AM FOUND by Laura Dingman. Have a great week!
